The Boten Eccelente Cabaret is the flagship evening show of the Boten Special Economic Zone — a high-production-value cabaret featuring acrobats, drag performers, dance troupes, costume changes, live music and theatrical lighting. The cabaret occupies a purpose-built venue in the Tourism & Cultural District of the SEZ — a clean, modern theatre with tiered seating, professional sound and lighting, and a dedicated stage capable of handling the acrobatic acts that anchor the show. Performers are drawn from across Southeast Asia, with strong Thai and Lao representation, and the show's choreography reflects the influence of Bangkok's well-established cabaret scene.

It's worth being clear about what the cabaret is and isn't. This is the modern, family-friendly version of what was once a much more freewheeling entertainment scene in pre-2011 Boten. Today's production is closer to a Las Vegas variety show than to anything questionable: choreographed routines, glittering costumes, professional musicianship, and a structure that includes acts suitable for older children. There are no casinos in or near the venue (gaming is not permitted in Boten SEZ today).

What to expect from the show

A typical evening lasts approximately 75–90 minutes and includes:

Show times, tickets and how to book

Shows generally run once nightly at 19:30 or 20:00, Tuesday through Sunday. The venue is dark on Mondays for maintenance. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime, and arriving early lets you settle in with a drink at the lobby bar.

Tickets are reasonably priced for the production quality — typically US$10–25 per person depending on seating. Premium seats (front rows, dedicated booth tables with table service) are at the top end; standard tiered seating is around US$10–15. Booking is recommended during Chinese public holidays and weekends; weekday performances often have walk-up availability.

Most hotels can arrange tickets as part of a Boten weekend package, often with transport included. Direct ticket purchase is also possible at the venue's daytime box office (open 14:00–18:00) or through Trip.com and several other regional OTAs.

• Arrive early — 30 minutes ahead lets you find your seat without rushing and gives you time at the lobby bar.
• Dress smart-casual — There's no strict dress code, but the venue is a step up from the local market in formality. Closed-toe shoes are sensible.
• Photography — Photography is restricted during the performance for both copyright and audience-experience reasons. Pre-show and post-show photography in the lobby is fine.
• Combine with dinner — Several Boten restaurants offer pre-show dinner menus that get you to the venue on time. Ask your hotel for current recommendations.
• Bring a light jacket — The venue's air-conditioning runs cool during the show.
• Age suitability — Appropriate for older children (10+); some adult-themed humour may be lost on younger viewers but the visual spectacle is family-friendly.
